Para anggota Komisi MotoGP melakukan pertemuan di Barcelona rabu (17/02/2010) waktu setempat, untuk membahas masalah peraturan teknis MotoGP untuk musim 2012.
Sudah diputuskan pada Desember lalu bahwa mulai tahun 2012 kapasitas mesin MotoGP ditingkatkan menjadi 1000cc, namun untuk tim yang belum siap masih diperbolehkan menggunakan mesin 800cc seperti yang digunakan saat ini.
Sementara berat minimal kendaraan untuk mesin lebih dari 800cc adalah 153kg, dan 150kg untuk mesin 800cc. Jumlah mesin yang boleh dipergunakan untuk setiap pembalap adalah 6 buah untuk satu musim, dan kapasitas tangki 21 liter.
